About Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation
If you experience shortness of breath in your daily activities, you may have a respiratory problem that can be treated with pulmonary rehabilitation. Pulmonary rehab lessens your sensation of shortness of breath, while helping improve activity endurance—and quality of life. Pulmonary rehab is covered by most insurance companies.

Our pulmonary rehabilitation specialists work with you to develop a rehabilitation program that meets your specific health needs. Pulmonary rehabilitation services are provided to both adults and children 7 years and older.
Through a structured and individualized plan of care, you will learn how to manage your existing condition while participating in a medically supervised health and fitness program designed to help improve your overall ability to breathe.
Accurate Diagnosis and Treatment
If you have respiratory problems such as unexplained shortness of breath, chronic cough or asthma, assessing the level of inflammation in your airways is important for diagnostic and treatment decisions. An Exhaled Nitric Oxide Test measures allergic airway inflammation. This measure may help determine your best treatment plan, it can identify inflammation responsive to steroidal treatments, and help to improve asthma outcomes.
Ask your doctor about an Exhaled Ntiric Oxide Test-FeNO, or call NWH Pulmonary Rehab for more information, (914) 458-8700.
You will participate in a 12-week exercise program consisting of three 1-hour sessions per week. Additional sessions may include nutritional and stress management counseling. Throughout the program, you are closely monitored and evaluated to ensure a safe and effective exercise progression. The last session will include a re-evaluation component to measure the progress you made throughout the program.
Maintaining Your Progress
Once the initial program objectives are met, we will provide you with a maintenance exercise program that helps you continue your physical activity independently at home or at the exercise facility you choose. You will be invited back for periodic evaluations of your progress. Your program is modified as you improve and periodic reports are made available to your physician, so he or she can monitor your progress.
