The wound care specialists at Northern Westchester Hospital take pride in providing the best possible care of our patients.
Alona Alexander, RN
Alona has over twenty years of nursing experience including home care and pediatric care. She earned her RN from College of Mount St. Vincent. Prior to coming to Northern Westchester Hospital, Alona was a Case Manager for Montefiore Home Care and Coordinator of Care for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, along with nursing positions at Westchester Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital.
Elizabeth Panken, RN
Liz has over 35 years of nursing experience in the acute care, hospice and home care settings. Liz is a graduate of Wagner College with a BS in Nursing and received her Master’s in Nursing from Mercy College. Liz is certified in Wound Care by the National Alliance of Wound Care. She has experience teaching on both the baccalaureate and associate degree levels. Liz is involved with the transition of care from the acute care setting to the community and clinic setting. She enjoys patient and staff education.
Peter Roppolo, RN, DC, BSN, MPA
Peter is Clinical Nurse Manager of Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. Peter is a graduate of SUNY Albany, received his BS in Nursing from Pace University, and his Executive MPA from New York University. He is an active member of the hospital’s Planetree Steering Committee. Previously, Peter was the Assistant Patient Care Manager in Mixed Medical/Oncology at the hospital and, prior to coming to Northern Westchester, Peter was a Nursing Administrator/ Manager at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Peter is directly involved in hands-on patient care, serves as wound care expert for the hospital’s inpatient wound care program, and is directly responsible for all administrative nursing functions required by Healogics, the hospital’s Wound Care partner.
Trinity Saward, RN, BSN, WCC, CHRN
Trinity is the Clinical Coordinator of the Wound Care Program at NWH. Trinity has fifteen years of nursing experience including acute care, home care and wound care. She earned her RN at Westchester Community College and her BSN at Chamberlain College of Nursing. Trinity is certified in wound care treatment by the National Alliance of Wound Care and has been involved in staff education of wound care specialists, and program development for both inpatient and outpatient wound care programs. Trinity is a graduate of the specialized program in Advanced Wound care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy offered by Healogics™ Corporation, Jacksonville, FL. In 2014, she successfully passed the examination given by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology and is a Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse.
Aurora Toporoff, RN, BSN
Aurora has over twenty years of nursing experience working primarily in the Operating Room before joining the Wound Care staff. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in her home country of the Philippines. Aurora is a graduate of the specialized program in Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy offered by Healogics™ in Jacksonville, FL.
Christina Jaeschke, CHT, LPN
Christina is the Safety Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine program, and has thirteen years of experience in the medical field. Previously, Christina worked for eleven years as an LPN in the Main Operating Room at Northern Westchester Hospital, along with five years of experience working in a private Vascular Practice as a Procedural Nurse. Christina has been a part of many committees and helped to start up many programs at NWH such as the Life Wings Initiative as well as the General Surgery Robotic Program. Christina attended nursing school at Westchester Putnam BOCES. She is a graduate of a UHMS approved Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy course offered by Healogics and is a Certified Hyperbaric Technician.
Julio Torres, CHT, BS, EMT-P
Julio is a Certified Hyperbaric Technician with a Bachelor’s Degree from the City College of New York. Prior to joining Northern Westchester Hospital, Julio worked for Life Support Technologies at Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Program. Julio is also an Emergency Medical Technician and a Basic Life Support Instructor.
